The Biochemistry Department of Indraprastha Apollo
Hospitals is a fourth generation laboratory backed by highly qualified,
experienced and motivated team of doctors and technical staff.
It is well equipped with latest state of art
technology to perform not only the routine Biochemical tests for patient care
but also a wide range of super speciality investigations.
To highlight a few special tests, we perform
therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), tumour markers, electrophoresis,
Immunoglobins, special proteins, Iron deficiency panel, thyroid and fertility
hormones, trimester screening for chromosomal anomalies and metabolic profiles.
The sophisticated equipment’s to carry out these
investigations include integrated Advia 1800 and Advia Centaur systems from
Siemens with robotic arm technology of versa cell as preanalytical station,
Hitachi series and Modular E-170 system from Roche diagnostics, Vidas from
Biomerieux, fusion 5.1 FS and vitros 250 from Johnson & Johnson, Appraise
paragon from Beckman, Arterial blood gas analyzers from Siemens, Ohmmeter from
Gonotec, Victor D2 from Perkin Elmer and many more.
All these systems are integrated with Laboratory
information system which enables us to reduce errors and turn-around time. The
short turn-around time with 24 X 7 X 365 days availability for most of the
investigations is a unique feature of our Lab.
Quality control and quality assurance are strictly
implemented. Stringent Internal and external Quality control programmes as per
WHO recommendations are followed National and International Proficiency testing
programmes for External Quality Assurance Programme are an integral feature.
The reagent kits/calibrators/controls are all
FDA/CE approved.
One of the latest addition in our Laboratory is the
estimation of TDM`s by Gold standard technology of HPLC-MS/MS.
Liquid chromatography coupled with Mass
spectrometry(LC/MS) is a powerful analytical tool that provides high
specificity and sensitivity in measurement of immunosuppressant drugs - the
method of choice for immunosuppressants, especially for simultaneous multiple
drug monitoring. We are the first one to perform rare analytes, such as
Sirolimus (Rapamycin) and Busulfan levels in a Hospital based laboratory in
India.
To do the same we are also the first one to procure
HPLC-MS/MS equipment (M/S Thermo fisher). These estimation are contributing
tremendously in the success of our Bone Marrow Transplant Program.
We regularly provide services to patients referred
from outside the Hospital.
