Q- How long does this takes?
Ans- This depends on:
Which method your doctor uses (open or minimally invasive)
Which procedure you need
For example, the minimally invasive surgery may take longer, but the recovery is faster.


Q- How much will it hurt?
Ans- You will have pain while recovering which will be taken care of. Your doctor will give you pain medicine.


Q- What is the average hospital stay?
Ans- This surgery is most commonly done in a hospital setting. It may be possible to go home on the same day of the surgery. If you have a cervical diskectomy, you may have to stay in the hospital for a few days.


Q- What is Post-procedure Care?
Ans- Follow your doctor's instructions. Bending, lifting, or twisting may be limited for six weeks. You will work with a physical therapist to stretch and strengthen your muscles. This will help to decrease the risk of future back problems.
Call Your Doctor if:
After you leave the hospital, contact your doctor if any of the following occurs:
Signs of infection, including fever and chills
Redness, swelling, increasing pain, excessive bleeding, or any discharge from the incision site
Numbness or tingling
Pain that you cannot control with the medicines you have been given
Pain, burning, urgency or frequency of urination, or bleeding in the urine
Cough, shortness of breath or chest pain
Loss of bladder or bowel control
